Got my Prodigy installed in the F-350. Only trouble is, it doesn't work. I have the Ford wire and I plugged the it into the plug under the dash. I don't have anything as far as a light or other indication that it is working. I assume that it should power up with the ignition switch. I checked a few fuses under the dash and also under the hood. I found a blown #28 under the dash and replaced it, but that didn't solve the problem. What other things should I check before I start to suspect the unit itself?
There are two relays and two fuses that must be installed under the hood. They came in a plastic bag in the glove compartment of my truck. I don't remember if the info on where these are installed is in the owner's manual or in a separate document that came in the bag. Have you looked in the owner's manual? Seems like you have a fuse and relay for the brake, and a pair for the 12v charging circuit? This is from memory. If you can't find it in your owner's manual, let me know and I will go look in my truck and give you some better info.
Under the hood, fuse #28 is for Trailer Tow Electronic Brake Controller, according to my owner's manual. I checked it and it appears to be good. I see some other fuses listed, both under the dash and under the hood, that are supposed to be for other trailer items such as lights and battery charge. Are these what you are referring to, or is there something else. Sure hope I can get that sucker going. I need to tow this coming week-end.........
If you have a test light, you can check for power at the plug for the controller, to eliminate bad controller. If there is no power at the plug, I would say controller is good.
Just completed the install of my Prodigy. There are 2 relays you need that go under the hood, in a small relay box next the the Power Dist Box, next to the Brake fluid reservoir. These relays are identical. Luckily mined were still in the plastic from the factory in the glove box.
Get and install these first. Then 2 30 amp fuses also under the hood, in the Power Dist box ... # 16 and #28 Once I got this hooked up, I have power to the Prodigy... even with the ignition off.
THANKS, Texex and 220k-f-150! I have some time to work on it this evening, so I will check it out. I know I have a good #28 under the hood, but I am not sure about the #16. Gotta get out there now and see.........
The best I can tell. I have no power at the plug. I see two pairs of relays beside the underhood fuse box. Gonna test those as soon as I can get a chance. Bothe fuse 16 and fuse 28 appear to be good. Hope to figure this out soon. Only a couple days left before I'll need to use the Prodigy.........

I assume the "no power at the plug", is the plug that the brake-controller connects to under the dash. I believe the fuse for this part is in the fuse box under the dash. And I also believe that its power is always on to the brake-controller.
The two relays under the hood, should not be inside the main underhood fuse box. They should be next to it. One relay connects for 12v to trailer and the other is for back-up lights.
Sounds if brake-controller is good, just need to find power to the plug. Also double check fuses, even I am guilty of missing one once in awhile.
Yes, texex....there are two pairs of relays. One pair is parallel to the fuse box, and the other pair is perpendicular to the fuse box. Hope that makes sense. If the fuse box runs long ways of the truck, one pair of relays does too, and the other runs crossways.
Yes, 220k-f-150....there is no power at the plug that goes into the back of the brake controller. I bought a test light and it don't light. I am going to try and test the relays this evening. Hopefully I can come up with the answer.........
Precisely RedTaurus ... you need the parallel box ... Mine was empty, I had to install the relays there ... both were the same... would it help if i got the part #'s for ya .. would be more than happy to do it ...
Ok, Here is a run down for your brake controller. Factory Brake Controller wire harness 6pin plug(only 5 are used).
Red is 12V and runs directly to underhood fuse box to fuse #28.
Blue wire is for outgoing current to electric brakes, runs to rear trailer connector.
Light Green wire is power to controller when brake pedal is applied.
Brown is for controller lights.
White is ground.
The Red wire and fuse #28 seem to be the problem. Check fuse #28 again(I would try a different 30 amp fuse). If it looks good, use test light to make sure the #28 fuse outlet is getting 12V. One of the two lugs will have 12V. This test is with fuse out.

I got to the bottom of the problem this evening. I would have swore that I verified that my fuses and relays were NOT the issue. However, as it turns out, I was MISSING a fuse. Once I put that fuse in there, it worked like a charm. Amazing, isn't it?
Now alls I got to do is get that controller dialed in. Got one more evening to work on it before we hit the road Saturday morning!
THANKS again!! Sorry for being such a dummmy.........
