disc brakes for 1965

Howdy,
I have a 1965 f-100 and i was looking into the front brake conversion kit. i found that someone did it on a 1968 that they were parting out. Would these spindles kingpins ect. fit my truck?

The short answer is yes! But, You will need many other bits and pieces to convert your drum brake Twin I Beam 65 into a disk brake, or better, power disk brake system. Search the archives and reread all the posts on this subject. If you have any specific questions we can help! Find a friendly junk yard operator or buy a 76-79 parts truck.

This is a very informative article! Good detail, exhibits and an easy read. The author did not install power disk brakes on his truck. I would highly recommend installing a power booster to anyone doing a disk swap. I also like the old radius arms (they look nicer). I recently bought a 66 truck and was surprised to find disk brakes under it. The PO had installed non boosted disks and used the old single pot master cylinder!!! I went to the junk yard and for 30 bucks scored a remanufactured booster and MC along with the linkage necessary to install the wider power brake pedal with the correct brake pedal ratio.

Thanks for the kind words (I'm the author).
Coming from a sports car background, I dislike the overboosted, numb feel of American power brakes and steering. While you do have to push harder on the pedal without the boosted brakes, they really aren't that bad. Most would probably prefer the power brakes, however.
The only difference to do the pwr brakes is adding the booster. Everything else is pretty much identical to what I show on the web site.

The page gets a lot of traffic...if I only could get a buck for everytime someone used it I'd be rich by now.
