Neither system was offered by Ford when the truck was new. You'll have to get your own from a donor vehicle: '73 - '79 F100 with the same type of engine (FE V8 or I-6). It may also be your chance to get a different transmission or air conditioning, as well as dual master cylinder and power booster. I'm sure Jowilker will be along soon to expand on this information. Good luck.

65 Ford F-100 1st Welcome to and the Slicks Forum.

There are more than 1 way to do this but I only recommend 1. Buy a 73-76 donor for your V8, or 73-79 donor for your I6 and take it to a location that you can use to do the swap. 76 was the last year that the FE V8 was offered. With buying your donor you will have every piece needed to upfit & upgrade your 65 with bolt hole swap. When I did mine I pulled the I-beam set and steering gear from under my 66, pulled my 76 donor along side dropped them drug them under the 66 and bolted it all back up. If you will spend a little time checking king pin slop and other things before you buy, you can avoid that job.

Every time a member comes back asking where can he get this part or that, it is because he bought a kit and not a donor.

I also know if my truck needs something under the chassis I ask for 76 not 66 in most cases.

I also swapped my 3spd for the C6 auto from my donor also. You will need to use the donor steering column so buy one with the tranny that you want to go with.

You shouldn't have any trouble finding something in the Charlotte area.

On my 1965 F100 I have done a cab and bed off frame, stripped to bare metal and epoxy primed, complete sandblast and POR15 on frame. Complete interior strip, prime and re spray with new carpet and bucket seats. All door weather strip and window guide / felt has been replaced. I lowered complete truck 3.5" using lowering leaf spring shackles rear and new 3.5 dropped I beams front. The 1968 390fe has been balanced and blueprinted with a 495 lift cam with Aluminum heads, Dyno 435 hp 450 torq. My next project is a built C-6 to bolt to my 390fe to turn my 9" ford w/ 4:11 posi. Powering steering and A/C are my wife's command along with Power disk brakes. We are both retired and live in a Townhome, so I have no extra space for a donor truck. I really am looking for any Ford Truck Owners that have GOOD working parts that they want to sell. I live in Fort Mill Sc.
Thanks
Ed

Ed, When she who must be obeyed speaks you had better get moving.

You have also opened the window and poured a bucket full of info that you left out before.

Make a plan bro, get some help lined up, rent a space for 30 days make it happen. The Saginaw gear requires that the column be swapped with it, including the transmission at the same time would make sense. I believe you will have to do a king pin out swap for the discs. It certainly would have been easier if you had done this when you had the truck down before.

I know you tried to tell her, right??
