Elmore: 1967 F350 Build / Progress Thread
Ever since the swap to a manual trans, there has been a flat/dead spot really low in the rev range and the occasional snap through the carb on start up or when cold. Yesterday I spent some time with the timing (sorry) and now Elmore is smooooooth. The idle is so much better and the flat spot is just about completely gone. Butt dyno also says it's pulling harder - which would make sense. I think have have a bit more room to adjust but am going to drive it this way for a week or so and get a good feel before adjusting further. There's a chance that any remaining hesitation down low is gearing.
Added bonus - the smoothed out idle has quieted down the rattly trans at idle!

my mild 460 is happy at 14-16* initial with 34 total. Im all in just past 3,000 rpm, a little on the lazy side but what my particular combo needed to not ping. It was snappier all in at 2400 rpm but she had some ping when WOT
dont forget to dial in vacc advance too
good starting point will be about 12-14
