Mustangman7 Restores A 1975 F150 Ranger XLT Supercab
Hello Fellow Ford Dent Side Lovers,
I have been lurking for at least 2 years, ever since I bought my F150. I plan on showing the long and tedious process of building it my way as a Pro-Street truck with a 572 CI Boss 429. That is the motor as shown in my avatar. :-}
I had built several Award Winning World of Wheels / Detroit Auto Rama vehicles in my home garage over a 25 year period until 1992 when a drunk driver nearly killed me. I lost 40% of my long term memory which included my ability to work on cars. I also had both of my knees messed up pretty badly and can no longer get down on the ground. Thus I had to relearn how to work on cars and I have to find ways to accomplish things without being able to get under the truck. It has taken me all these years to get up the courage to attempt another vehicle so this one is being done while dealing with all the challenges I have been dealt! My older brother died from a massive heart attack 2 years ago and with heart disease running in my family that was when I realized that tomorrow is not guaranteed and so I decided to begin this project. I hope to be able to complete it but being 66 years old and physically challenged it is by no means going to be easy! I did wake up this morning so it is time to get back to this project. Enjoy my slow progress. Thanks for looking. Mike
This is it still sitting in the previous owners driveway in San Antonio Texas.

Reason: update history
Very first thing I did when it was delivered to Michigan was to take these door damaging mirrors off and replace them with the western style folding mirrors. Luckily the previous owner had removed the ugly stickers off the door before he shipped it!

Hello and welcome to FTE
Nice truck. I was about to ask what cool art there is on the hood , but then I recognized it's the shadow of the basketball hoop
Thanks. I see you are in Germany. Might you know about Detroit Technologies Inc. in Germany? Soenke is one of the largest importers of American Muscle cars in Europe and he is also the owner of my Retired Michigan State Police 1994 9C1 Police Cruiser!
Here was the first indicator to look into this truck further before I drove it. I found this speaker wire being used to POWER something under the dash. Can you say fire hazard?
From there I found household romex twist nuts holding wires together under the hood and under the dash so it was at that point I knew I had to inspect everything. Very glad I did. Was told the truck had no rust or rust repair before I bought it and yet I found this under the carpet.
It was at this point I decided to take the entire truck apart since everything I found was done sub-standard. Who in their wildest dreams expects to find a patch panel in the floor that is not even attached to the rocker panel?

Here is where the fun and hard work begins. Time to remove the antiquated i-beam suspension and upgrade to a complete Ridetech set-up with independent front suspension, Coil-Over Shocks and a Fox Body Mustang Power Steering rack.

Ummmmmmmm.............
I swear that yard sign HAS Not been covering the hole in the passenger side floor pan for 24 years & is only held in with a rubber mat. Nor is there a door skin on the drivers side doing the same thing, but that one at least has a self tapper or two holding it in place. No, I'd never do that......
Good looking super cab you've got, despite it's issues. Looking forward to following along with your project.
