1970 F100 build, reboot time
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...her-build.html
This thread follows my next build. The truck is complete and I drive it regularly.
I didn't get carried away with the build and the cost. I capped it at $5K plus the truck. So I thought, let's keep the body original and make it a driver.
I found a nice sold 1970 shorty with a Crown Vic front suspension already installed, 390 c.i.,, C6, lowered great start right, well......

So I guess it's time to source another motor.

The grille even has a dent that lines up perfectly with the bumper dent.
Some fabrication was necessary.
Now we're getting some where.
Much better.
Changed the valve covers, added a serpentine belt system and new harmonic balancer.
I ended up buying a 5 ton engine hoist locally. My regular one would not lift the motor high enough to clear the radiator support.
Out with the old. I was lucky enough to source a low mileage TCI Street Fighter C6 while the motor was pulled.
In with the new.

I have the exact same hoist that you just bought. I have had it for 30 years. I just replaced the hydraulic pump for the 2nd time. Northern Tools has replacements.
Nice job on the engine.
I cannot say enough good things about my Outcsast Autoworks 4 link. I removed another kit to install this one. Beefy and well thought out, great welds and customer service.

I cut off all the unnecessary brackets , prepped and painted the Crown Vic axle.
Moved the truck into garage and set it up for surgery.
Marked the center line of the old axle.
Pulled the rear as a unit.
Rough test fit to check bar length was correct.
Test fit of axle and shock mounts
Stock spring mounts removed, frame cleaned , all brackets welded in yo place
Panhard bar, sway bar and coilovers installed.
Ride height will be adjusted once the bed is back on the truck. Ready for the bed .
