49' Mercury m47 to the 60' Birthday
In my garage
The Merc comes from Canada and is not tinkered with. It also has no large rust holes. Everything is original. The Merc was driven on a farm and used for work. The way it looks, the engine and gearbox are also original. What is not original is the paint. It was painted brown.
First of all, that's the story of the Merc up to my garage.
It’s about to go on because I have a lot of questions.

Experienced everything from sunburn to snow.
Tomorrow I'll get a replacement alternator for the Merc. Then it continues.

After the Merc was apart I started to blast the frame and also to prime it.
What I have already seen is that a buck from the remote recording is knocked out. I removed this and it will be fitted with new sockets.
I also removed this rear strut. This was totally banned. It was probably used to pull trees out of the forest.
I straightened and welded the strut. I will rivet them back to the original.
More soon, greetings Bernd
I took the springs to a workshop for restoration. Here in Germany we have a large market for vintage cars and also good workshops.
Then I got to work on the axles. The front one is OK. No wobbling on the bearings. The handlebar is being restored.
The teeth on the rear axle still look good. Only the central bolt has run in.
I will have the bolt re-manufactured. We have a specialist here who restored the old Ford and Dana axles. He told me that my axle is not Ford but Mercury and there are no more parts. Not even in a replica.
To be continued soon.
Greetings Bernd

Of course I still have 100 questions about my Merc.
First the chassis number. Here is a photo of the plate on the wall of fire.
I think it's good to see. The color is a metallic blue. One components. But the equipment. ????
The engine is a 8 BA
I will see the exact data and color of the engine next week when I have cleaned the engine. I'll blast him with dry ice.
I would like to know if the engine is the original engine for my truck.
I also found the number in the frame.

I have contact with a man in Mitwest who sold me a steering wheel and he says that these lamps are no longer built. However, these were installed in several models and cars. Only in which one?
