How To replace fuel filler hose
This job took me a hour start to finish.
First I sprayed the tank hanger bolts and nuts with Aero-Kroil to free up the rust.
I removed the three small 5.5mm hex head bolts holding the gas cap neck into the fender.
You need a 13mm box wrench to hold the bolt head and 15mm deep socket to remove the nut from the bolt at the two hanger strap's
I used my Harbor Fright tranny jack to support the gas tank and lower it may be 3"
The screw type clamps on the hose are a 5/16 hex.
You may want to spray the end of the old hose with PB Blaster to help it slide off.
I found the inner vent hose twisted when I removed the old hose, that wasn't me that did that. (the gas tank was replaced Nov 2011) Not by me.
I found it much easier to install the vent hose into the tank then slide the new filler hose over it, after "putting a coating of dielectric grease" on the inside ends of the hose. Got that tip from a member on here.
Slide the (pre-tightened) clamp over the fill hose and down in place where it should fit snugly, so its easy to get the 5/16 socket on the 6" extension on the 1/4" ratchet.
Raise the tank, tighten the hanger nut's (remember to move that wire harness in front of the chassis member so it doesn't get pinched, 4th picture below)
Install the metal fill neck on the vent tube, then continue to push it into the new filler hose,
then install it in the fender and install the three small screws.
install the screw clamps at the joint of the hose and metal neck.
Here's the 21" long hose that fits.

I was not able to find a replacement vent tube for our 80-86 trucks on line when I did a tank replacement so treated the vent tube carefully and reused it as it was undamaged.

Last few fill ups I seen a spot on the ground and when I looked the filler looked wet.
I keep forgetting to get under and check it out better.
May get lucky its just a loose clamp

Thanks,
So, I guess its safe to assume that Spectra hose is for the flare side trucks (?)
That would make sense as I assume that needs a shorter hose.

I'm sure you have looked around for other things that might work.
I did a google search for "fuel resistant rubber hose" https://www.siliconehose.com/1-125-i...EaAvxLEALw_wcB
There must be something out there that can work.

When I put this all together I had what came off my flare side front tank that had been butchered, had the front & rear fillers from the style side parts truck and a second flare side front tank filler, cut at tank, my brother sent with the filler door I grafted to the rear part of the fender.
So between all the parts I was able to come up with something to work for both tanks but I cant remember what was used where

I do know I used a part of exh pipe to join the rubber hoses together so it come be as easy as a loose clamp.
I guess I could do the fill in exh pipe and use the hose to join the pipe to tank & filler door part?
I just have to get under and check it out one day, I am lazy LOL
Thanks for the link I also wonder if a boat shop would have something that would work?
