Putting the Superhitch magnum on my truck this weekend and torklift camper tie downs. I want a 10'ish camper with slideout and want to be able to tow my 5-6k lb tandem axle fishing boat behind it safely. I put airbags and auto compressor on truck with wireless remote, also changed the stock shocks out for bilsteins. Camper I am planning on putting on truck will be Lance 1052s with single slide. Truck has factory bedliner and I plan to add a rubber bed mat also. I will secure camper with torklift fast guns. I plan on just making an extension to go from the 7pin in bed to the front to plug camper in, I realize this wont charge batteries in camper, but not too worried about that.
Anything you can think of I'm missing? I have had a camper before but was a lance 835 that didnt go past bumper and no slide. Loved that camper but was not family friendly with kids. I used the happy jac system on that one and it always worked fine. Can't do that with the aluminum bed I guess and have always heard great things about torklift.
Sounds like a good overall setup! A couple of comments:
1. Check under your truck’s rear left side for an unused harness with a pair of connectors. This is the spare trailer harness normally used for the factory in-bed fifth wheel package connector. It can be used for the camper and it leaves the bumper connector available for the boat trailer.
2. You can purchase and install a bed-mount 7-pin connector from etrailer.com:
My truck has the in bed 7pin plug for gooseneck trailers and the one on the back of the truck. So is there another spare for a camper or just use the 7 pin already in bed? I know lance uses a special connector but didn’t want to put that lance plug in my bed.
I am also are using the Torklift frame mount brackets for securing my camper but I'm using the Happyjack fastguns which are cheaper and work just as good.

3. If everything is assembled and configured correctly, you should be able to charge the camper house battery(ies) from the truck.
4. How do you like the Bilstein shocks?
HTH, and safe travels!

Hey Jim, I added Bilstein's to the front of my 04, I bought it with twin Rancho shocks on the front corners and an additional leaf (very harsh), I proceeded to a single Rancho set-up and the ride was much better but i felt body roll in the front end. When replaced the single Rancho (I believe 5000) with a new set of Bilstein 5100's all my font end issues were gone, the truck rides as good as a leaf truck should, but with no discernible body roll, the harshness is gone.
This is a pic with the single back on it.

I've found my camper I think I'll buy, its a 2014 Lance 1052s, one slide, onan lp generator, solar panel and controller, nicely equipped. He is going to throw in the super truss extension and fast gun tie downs which will allow me to send mine back or save them as a spare, probably send them back since they were over $700. I have my bed mat arriving tomorrow so it won't damage my spray in bed liner and will make the 9 hour round trip next week to pick it up. Hopefullys he fits good! Truck should be plenty to carry it. I'll post pics when I get it home.
My only complaint is they sure didn't make it easy to get the tailgate off. My ram had one plug at the tailgate you would unhook and put a cap on it and all was well. Having to get under the truck and cut the wire harness and unplug 4 plugs and pull that mess up through makes it a real PITA. I love my surround camera setup, but to be honest might be leaving the tailgate off most the time or maybe get a cheap make shift tailgate thingy thats easy to get on on and off. I expect I'll have the camper on and off the truck around 10-12 times a year and the tailgate is heavy and just a PITA. Figure this stuff out ford, come on!

Well I finally picked my camper up. I have a spray in bedliner and put a rubber bed mat in the truck before making the 4 hour drive to go get it. I found it still was not enough to raise the camper high enough to clear the cab enough to not make contact when flexing. I put a 3/4" piece of ply wood in the bed under the bedmat and it gave me around 2" of clearance. Still not enough IMO. Going to start a new thread on this, but figured I'd post pics of the setup. Camper is a 2014 1050s.
Lance redesigned in I believe for the 2018+ YM of campers to compensate for this very problem on the new model Super / Heavy Duty designs.
A lot of people are using plywood / Stall Mat single or combine applications, and I've seen a lot of people using 1" foam insulation from Lowes or similar stores.
When Lance redesigned, IMHO for those of us with older pickups, it put way too much clearance between the cab and the cab over.
On my 96 I have over 8" of clearance and right at 6 3/4 (IIRC) on the 2011. 2020 1062 on 2011 F350 DRW King Ranch. Nothing in the bed except the OEM bed liner and a bed liner mat. 2020 on 1996 F250 Extended Cab PSD. I do have a 3/4" plywood spacer in this pickup to keep the camper above a fold down ball goose neck setup.
I was going to add but saw it mentioned above- head to Tractor Supply and get their 3/4" Bed mat. Its heavy duty and wont let the camper budge. Only problem is they run 4 x 6 so I bought two and made a template and cut to fit. between that and the plywood, you should be better. Just be thankful you have the low clearance XM antenna. I got the shark fin. You would have broken that off with your current clearance
