"So-called" D3TB-16850-N (there is no such number or hood ornament, it's a figment of a repro parts sellers imagination) is actually C2DZ-16178-A .. Front Fender Emblem for 1962/63 Falcon!
Pic: Scroll down to 16850.
Parts catalog doesn't say, but O-S-I (Obsolete-Supercede-Interchange) Catalog does:
D3AZ-16850-A & B were replaced by D7OZ-15850-A that you can see was replaced by D8BZ-16850-A
Edit: D8BZ-16850-A was replaced in 1982 with E2BZ-16850-A and in 1983 with E3TZ-16850-A
D5TZ-16850-A was replaced by D6TZ-16850-B that you can see was replaced by D8TZ-16850-A

An enterprising repro parts seller discovered it fits the contour of the 1973/79 F100/350 & 1978/79 Bronco hood. It's actually illegal to install it on a hood, because it's not "spring loaded."
What year truck do you want the D8BZ-16850-A hood ornament for?
The reason I ask is, this number was replaced in 1982 and again in 1983.
I edited post #33 to reflect this.
FoMoCo is infamous for replacing/updating part numbers almost as often as women change their minds!

IIRC the two top holes might match or at least get covered up by the new mirror assembly. only downside is the need to cut a new square hole in the door for the mirror brace to go through to the inside. Placement can be a little tricky as you can't hold the mirror up to the door until you cut the hole. Overall, it's pretty easy. I had the big trailer mirrors on mine so now there's still 5 ugly bolts in each door, you'd have to fill the bottom 2 of yours for sure. If you've built stuff for SEMA I'd say you definitely have the skills for it. I have a write-up in my profile of how I did mine. Another trick thing to do if you feel like cutting that truck up a little would be a power sliding moonroof...

D8BZ-16850-A .. Hood Ornament 'squarish' shaped with Wreath & 3 Lions / Replaced
1978/81 F100/350 & Bronco / 1978/81 Fairmont.
1982: D8BZ-16850-A was replaced by E2BZ-16850-A = 1982 F100/350, Bronco & Fairmont and previous year vehicles.
1983: E2BZ-16850-A was replaced by E3TZ-16850-A = 1983 Fairmont / 1983/86 F100/350 & Bronco / 1984/88 Ranger & Bronco II and previous year vehicles.
Note: D6TZ-16850-A rectangular shape with Wreath & 3 Lions was also used on 1976/79 F100/350 & Bronco (pic in post #31).
Which one of these puppies would you like?

LOL, this thread isn't even 24 hours old, and it already has 3 pages!
I'll bet it came with something like the D6TZ-16850-A, with the three lions or whatever they are, but you never know. Sounds like it didn't come with the C2DZ-16178-A, and if you see no evidence of there having been two holes, it probably didn't.
I probably wouldn't go farther than a SBF 5.0 EFI, but if you're not liking that upper intake, you could always fab up a new upper to get things where you want them. Otherwise, you can turn around the upper 180º, and have the TB on the driver side, like the Crown Vics were back in those days. Downside to that is the ugly EGR valve coming out of hiding...
An E4OD would be cool, and I'd probably just as soon leave the Dana in there. Is the lug pattern 5 on 5.5"?
I'd probably keep those Type-7 mirrors too. My truck has them as well. They look funny, because the mirror heads have been turned 90º, and the mounting clamps for the mirror heads have been moved up and over the top curve of the mounting bar.
I'd absolutely keep the 360º drip rail. I don't think stateside Dents ever had a gutter over the windshield. I wonder if you could get a bright cover molding to go all the way around.
And I don't think that that's the original paint, as I see over-spray on the Warranty plate.
I really wouldn't change much at all on it, since it's already something that most Norte-Americanos have never seen.
