46 mercury 7.3 swap
hello everyone i am under the process of converting my 01 crew cab long box 7.3L power stroke to have a cab of a 1946 mercury 1 and a half ton
thats the truck i started with
here i have mocked up a 07 F350 front frame with the coil over suspension that i will be swapping on to the 01 frame
some of the chrome i also have for the build
thats the 07 f350 front end i will be swapping under my 01 frame
i have removed the cab from the crew cab at this point and also am laying the harness out on the shop floor and trying to figure out how to simplify it

progress
little mock up for fun
just played the cab down and set some fenders on her for the night to keep the motor dry
anyone key in on what those two harness connectors are for and are they crucial for the motor to run
theres the interior harness with column and dash, petal assembly ANYONE know what the ford box is in the bottom left
this is a relay box in the dash harness that i have to find out what it dose
seems like a 46 don't need that!!!
its this the GEM ??
do i really need the inertia switch ?
same another relay in the dash harness that i need to find out what it is and if i need it

This looks like a good way to use the '49 Merc sheet metal! It looks like you have the equipment that you need to make this work. I have heard that one has to raise the body of the '01 series trucks to do any major work on the engine etc., so you have maybe had the body off before. It would be cool to widen the '46 fenders so that they cover the tires and wheels. I would think that you would want to leave as many components as possible on the wiring harness so that the computer stays happy. People on this site would be familiar with your F-350 wiring harness: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum31/. Keep us posted.

mega update...
the truck did start today
now i can re hook up all the coolant lines and refill with antifreeze before the snow comes next week or soo...
in the mean time i don't know where i am gunna end up mounting all this wire and computers i will need to extend the power steering/brake hoses to be able to accommodate the relocation of it all
as for a column i am leaning towards having to put a hotrod style kinda like the 46 had threw the firewall lower down if anyone has any ideas that may work that would be sweet maby a van column?
wheel mock up
i think this is a great seat height
hoist arms are just holding the running board in place

i will be keeping the front bumper on i think also
couldn't get the fuel gauge and what not to work yet tho
i also didn't know if the tach was working or not when i started it because it was not plugged in at the time
this is the main 1 of 3 connectors that go to the back of the cluster and i can't find a pinout anywhere anyone here have a digram or anything i could reference from
and as said in other builds and right ups who dose not wanna keep the original cluster

So you have a '07 steering wheel mechanism connected to a '64 steering column then connected to a '01 steering box.
You will have to secure the '64 column to the cab after making u-joint connections at each end then connect one end to the steering wheel mechanism and the other to the steering box. That is a very simplified version. You will definitely have to get creative. Check around online about how to do this. You will probably have to use a number of u-joints. You may have to have one shaft or more secured to the frame so that they will rotate. If you used a '64 steering wheel that would simplify the process a lot.

i ended up using the 64 wheel and shaft and column and modified the end to allow for the u joint
