the official OBS diesel off topic thread
No, not yet Nate. My daughter and grandkids are here for a visit and Monday I have to go to town. Tuesday I'm going to check it out.
As far as your rear brakes I had the same problem with the Mare. I was always adjusting them because they were getting hot. The Mule before that I put a disk brake conversion on it. This OX I have now is by far the best braking OBS I've had and so far the brake shoes are in good shape so I'm not touching them. The Mare I did what you did, all new springs, adjustors, etc. and nothing I did seemed to help. Sorry I can't be more help, I never did figure it out.

OK. Sometimes it's good to have bits laying around in this case the old srw axle..
Left side rear would get hot, right side was OK. I had a brain fart about the shoes being primary and secondary so ignore that for now. Here are some photos of the only differences between the sides.
Left side. Or drivers side.
Right side. Or passenger side.
The difference between the sides is the hooking of the star wheel lever cable spring. It interferes with the park lever on the driver side slightly and not on the passenger side. I may be crazy, OK I am. But I am going to pull the wheels off the drw axle tomorrow and fully expect to find the cable hooked over the arm vs under the arm. I will move it and take it for a test drive.
I expect the drums to behave. Unless of course they are hooked behind the arm.
Not much hair left on the top of my head to scratch so I better be careful!

I gapped it on the first build and was too lazy to take it apart because I knew the other axle was going in soon. On the second build I made sure it was correspondence with primary and secondary shoes. I will pull a wheel and take some photos.
Here are a few photos
The last photo is the parking brake assembly. I feel that it is keeping too much tension on the cable which is keeping the park brake lever in the drum partially engaged.
I have a second assembly in a vise to inspect and it looks like I need to put more return tension on the cable to over come the spring tension in the cable spool on the pedal lever.....

One new front cable assembly.
I will install this first and see if it is causing a little drag on the return.
I hooked a bungee to the rear cable split bracket and gave it a little tug. The parking brake arms returned to the shoes, which indicates the brake is fully released. Unlike my in first photos.

Since I was under the truck and it wasn't raining I decided to replace the hard line all the way to the back and bypass the AlwaysBrokenSystem. It's bled out test drive is done. And rear shoes need to be adjusted as the parking pedal nearly goes to the floor before there is brake action. Dinner first though.
