I asked a local Ford master tech this very question a year or so ago. He told me leave them on, they help cool the alternator.
Just a FWIW, not saying you can't get by without one and I am sure it's been debated to death here but I am kind of an OEM guy when it comes to shrouds and shields. If it was there to begin with it likely serves a purpose, knowing how the bean counters are looking to cut corners I have to assume if something was not needed it would not be there to begin with.

I agree. The two bolt holes are broken on mine, I don't really want to drop $300 for a new one so I need to figure out how to fix it.

I've run several 6.0's and my current one without the stator for quite a while. I researched every theory I could find on what it does and then checked for any difference while I still had my 05 dually 6.0 with the stator intact and my 05 excursion 6.0 which I removed.
After a lot of testing I did discover what it actually does.
It does a great job of holding the fan clutch wires away from being cut by the fan.
My advice; cut the bottom half off and never look back. You want the top half to hold the wires. Cut in a way that you can remove it by removing the 2 top bolts and you're good to go.
I understand the bean-counter conspiracy theory logic but that's still an answer of "I don't know" at the most basic level.
The reason people still keep it is just a fear of the unknown. I welcome anyone who's interested to come check out my ride and find a harmful deviation of anything caused by not having the stator there. I'm confident there is nothing to be found but I'd also be more than happy for the education if some issue actually can be found.

I made a metal L bracket for the wires and it's been fine.
I've not seen any difference in alternator temp compared to other underhood components, but that could potentially be due to its double fans. An example after a one hour summer run, the draw after the batteries are fully charged in the day is 15-16a. I have not data comparing w/wo stator with a stock alt.
The only thing I have noticed is a drop in oil side temp compared to the coolant, and that's the reason I believe it's an emissions adaptation, to keep the motor warmer.

There have been so many threads and opinions about the stator, air deflection, etc. In the field I've had Ford Master techs and Ford FSEs tell me the how and whys of brake products that I had a direct hand in, and they were clueless. Not that it was their fault, but unless you're part of the design teams, info doesn't flow. Even at the training level. Unless we get the Mark K of Ford cooling design for the P131 to comment, were just speculating IMO.
