Hey I have a quick question I'm looking for the original engine colors of a 1948 and 1951 f1.
And also which spray paint color is close to the original.

Reason: Forgot something
A PO did the opposite on mine. My s/n starts with F1R but it had a 226 in it when I bought it. They replaced the 3 on the tree with a crashbox 4 speed using the trans cover from the donor truck. When I restored it I completed the transformation moving the battery, using a I6 wiring harness and replacing the column cover. I plan to show mine so only the s/n gives it away!
If the engine doesn't look quite right, that is a 46 226 installed until the 51 226 is rebuilt and painted.
here's another question,
there are 2 lines from the radiator to the motor and 2 return lines.
does that mean i will need 2 water temp gauges? 2 water pumps?

You should have a temp. sending unit in each cylinder head connected to each other, and you should have two coolant pumps with the engine mounts on them. Tough call on the color, but I think it's been repainted because of the generator band clamp being the engine color. I think they were originally black. I'll go with your dad's call, with reservations.
