Is your seat covered in vinyl? I had mine recovered in cloth with vinyl trim, and it's pretty comfortable even at 100 deg. Very breathable.

Yeah Ross, it's vinyl. Pretty good shape. I'll be going with cloth when the time comes. What did you have yours covered in? Any pics?

Having a blast driving it around and hauling stuff. Just being a baby and crying about the heat.

I'm sticking to the plan of driving it while doing mechanical repairs. My one major concession is going to be A/C. Made up my mind. OK, a cloth seat too.

I have a Toyota P/S pump and box and realized I don't need power steering. I'm actually OK with the stock brakes too. Hopefully I don't need front drums. I'll adapt later F250 discs if I need drums and can't find any. I'm not even running a sound system.

I feel naked without seat belts too.

The water valve for the heater was stuck open and pretty rotten so I replaced it. Too hot here anyway to be driving around with the heater roasting me even more.

Figured I may as well rebuild the heater too. I went ahead and put in the 12 volt motor since I will probably convert to 12 volt by the time I need to use the heater.

Bead blasted and painted dash parts too.

All done and purdy.

I know it doesn't make sense to paint dash parts now. Just playing with blast cabinet and making progress. If I scratch it all up mounting my A/C it will be easy to fix and repaint.

Next is cab mounts and front suspension. Steering is pretty tight so may not do it until cab comes off for body work. Still have to do passenger door stuff too.

Here's my seat, and the layout of seat belts I used, FYI

The material is some modern synthetic that my upholsterer had on the shelf. Very breathable, doesn't make me sweaty (it gets plenty warm here too!).

I used 96" long seat belts. 75" are more common but only work for skinny folks. Belts are great for keeping you in place, aside from the obvious safety aspect.

Thanks for the pics and info Ross. I like your idea, I think the cloth and vinyl seat looks better than all cloth.

Definitely need some belts too. I ain't no skinny thing so thanks for the heads up on the length.

Lap belts in my case is probably safer for the other driver than me. So my big *** doesn't fly out of the cab and hit someone in a crash.
