Horn help
I've found some threads that span the last few years and it was either resurrect something a couple years old or start another new/old question.
I'm fighting the horn blowing all the time or blowing when I place pressure on the wheel. All new components but not sure if what I have is complete.
I have the rubber disc, new, the button is new, the brushes, 2 each, one in turn signal switch and one in the steering wheel, are new the steering wheel is new, the turn signal switch is new, the whole bloody wiring harness is new.
If someone could please post an exploded view, any of the links I tried in old posts lead no where. I don't seem to have this plastic insulator for the brush but don't know what it looks like.

Here are a couple of pictures I took of every part I have for the horn. Most of you already know where the parts attache and what they are but to cover all bases........
This is the horn button. It's new with a new rubber disc in the center.
Spring and brush
this attaches to the backside of the steering wheel and the brush rests on the indentation adjacent to one of the mounting holes
this attaches to the front. The brush comes through the u-shaped cutout and comes into contact with the button in one particular spot but that's what is throwing me since it should come in contact with the plate and the button when pressed should sound the horn
I can't shake the feeling that something is out of place or missing. Unfortunately, I don't know what that would be. We are not on speaking terms with either shop and I don't wish to go into things so I'll leave it at that. All I'm certain of is I'm not sure what it is that needs to be corrected.

okay....so......what would be a fix if the part wasn't available? I'm gonna throw a heat shrink tube at it just as a last hail Mary and then it's in to buy a fricken aftermarket wheel with a horn kit. well.......it wasn't a restoration anyhow so that just means $199 down the drain for the new wheel. When you have jackwagons work on things you get jackwagon quality work! This really sucks!

The heat shrink combined with using an extra rubber horn disc to isolate the spring and seat it around the wheel nut seemed to work. you have to really lay on the horn to get it to sound but it's better than not having a horn at all because it's disconnected.
If you have the dimensions....that'd be great....let me know and you'll be one of my new heros'! I'm almost certain what I've performed here will not last very long.
They make all these other components for the dang horn why not the insulating sleeve? You don't have to answer that I know perfectly well the part mfg cost would exceed the return through sales.
Hijacking my own thread here....
Does anyone know off-hand what is the diameter of the firewall bracket to steering column clamp? One of the last things I need to locate since the one I managed to find and purchase from evilbay was too large. The applications tab doesn't always paint a true picture.

I have the clamp you need. Even though the diagram says 1965 thru 1972, the insulator in my 66 column looks different. Photo attached. I can still send it, if you want, maybe you can make it work or cut the section you need with a "lip". Small flat rate box is about 5 and a half bucks. Let me know...or these go back in the attic.

....well...he seemed rather urgent, if not desperate, with 5 posts during the previous two days. Now that FTE members have shown up with the stuff he needs....nary a vapor trail. Cracks me up. I'm amazed, however, the readiness of the members of this forum, when it comes to stepping up with good information or parts assistance. You guys have helped me trmendously.
