Hello,
I just bought a repairable (smashed) 1999 F350 with the V10 engine. It was a BIG hit right in the center of the nose. Frame looks OK, but the engine appears to be pushed back slightly. About half of the airbox cover is under the cowl.
I looked at hundreds of gallery photo's, but I didn't find any V10 engine bay shots. Anybody got some? Or can you tell me where the throttle body cover lines up with the cowl?
Thanks for the photos guys. The angles are not quite right for me to tell for sure, but it looks like my engine may be pushed back 3-4 inches. I hope it's busted motor mounts and not a bent cradle.
What?? How could that happen?? It would have to push the tranny and drivetrain too. The engines do sit back under the fire wall some. Maybe that is what your seeing?

Yeah, I know they sit back under the firewall, but in my case about half of the airbox that covers the throttle body intake is under the cowl/firewall. According to the pictures posted here the airbox should be fully out in the open.
Your correct, that that tranny and transfer case would be pushed back, but there is enough slack in the driveline yokes to take up the difference. When I get more into it, I will find broken motor and tranny mounts, or bent crossmembers. Hopefully it will be mounts.
I do have some photos of the truck on my web site, although unfortunately not one of the engine bay yet, as I have to cut off the hood. Here is a link if you want to see the pictures:
