On the F355, my motto is "Ferrari Before 50". I've got another 347 days to find one I like, red or yellow with less than 25K miles and in my price range.
Better hurry then. Saturday, April 9, 2016 will be here before you know it.
I've had these on and off my dining table countless times awaiting refinishing. And due to a plethora of other things like the '70 LBB, the 73's mods and upgrades, and more recently a TON of work at the office, time has been really short.
So by doing a lil bit over the last two weeks, Project BRD's hubcaps are finally done!!
To recap, here is the "Before". Got the whole lot for $10 at a GoodGuys swap meet. One of them has rust-through so it's gonna be a clock for the garage.:
After:
I'm slowly accumulating parts for a disc brake swap. Caliper rebuilding seals are on their way from NPD as well as many other lil parts for the 70 and 73...
So I was surfing PnP's inventory last night and saw that a 71 F250 showed up on May 11 at my go-to yard. Interested in the non-reproduced grill inserts to replace a broken one, I packed up the SuperCrew lat this morning and made the 24-mile trip to discover it was a Ranger XLT Camper Special....but of many colors. The best part is that it had CHERRY grill inserts! Schwing! I was going to grab the rear decor panel but it had a few ****** in the metal... pass.
Picked up its woodgrain glove box emblem, two bedside "Ranger", and one "XLT" emblem. A 74 Dentside gave up its very solid auxiliary battery tray.
If it had a 390, I wouldda been all over its lunker 4V intake. Oh well.
Then about a mile from PnP on the parkway at 50 MPH, the S'Crew got a flat right front tire and then shredded sidewall. Changed the tire (thank goodness trucks have full size spares) and made my way home.
Nice truck!
Nice caps!
Big fan of dog dish caps. I cant wait to se thouse caps on the truck.
I really like the way this truck is coming along.
Keep up the good work!
A flat tire at front axle is not funny, you seamed to handle it well.

Thanks! Flats are just one of those things...Wasn't any use getting PO'ed about it because Miss Misfortune just happened to pick me on that day.... I took a deep breath, had a drink of water, and then got to work.
I've been a busy beaver today .. worked on the 73 too.
'Gave BRD a wash, replaced the right grill insert, and installed the caps. Just a tip - it helps to apply a lil grease to the wheels' nubs before smacking them on with a nice sounding "ting".
The pic may look funny cuz the BRD is parked on my steep driveway. I lost count of how many times sockets and other tools, among other things, have ended up in the gutter. One time a tire and wheel rolled away while I had my head turned, it rolled down, hit the curb across the street, and was bouncing down the street! I managed to track it down before it hit anything or anybody. Whew.
........And so whaddya think?
Btw, I think I've thought up a way to mount the horizontal chrome bar on the grill insert if the tabs are broken. I wanna delete the stupid bed hooks the PO installed and have a potential solution for that too... Stay tuned.
Hey HIO, looks good. Will those caps fit on the late-90s early-Oughts E250/350 van wheels?
Yes they will. In fact, the PO installed 16x7s from, what I can tell from the stampings on the wheels, a 1996 Ford F-truck or Econoline. The wheel hubs would be about 12 inches wide for these caps to fit.
Looks pretty sanitary HIO.
Those bed hooks are shirt grabbers among other things that cant be mentioned.
Thanks Blue... it's good to have them where they belong.. on the truck!
Concur.. I've errantly hooked myself on 'em a coupla times already. But I have an idea to at least make them less hackish. Right now they're albatrosses hanging around its neck.

Love your paintjobs on the hubcaps. I have my four from Harriet the Big Red Truck [RIP ] for sale on eBay, but you got a much better price than I offered!
Awesome Hio. Unbelievable job on 'em. Your rig looks like a truck version of twin Dorothys. Both with the sparkling scarlet slippers. You oughta nickname this rig.....slippers.
