My favorite all time Ford Hubcaps!! I think I have 2 sets,,, well now 3 since I also added a Bumpside to my fleet a week or so ago,,,
NICE looking truck!!! Good score!!
At the GoodGuys show/swap meet today I found a set (six actually) of painted but crusty, 12-inch hubcaps.. all of them for $10. For that price it was worth the risk. Five are the same size and one is the deeper version which, due to rust-through, will likely end up as a clock. I've got a couple of them de-rusting in the electrolysis vat. They've still got some heft to them so it appears I'll have something to work with when they come out.
Be careful, these are TWO different diameters of these painted hubcaps: 10 5/16" & 11 3/4."
1967/68 F250's could have either innie or outie wheels. 1969 and later are all outies.
The outie hubcaps are also the same as 1967/77 F350, 1969/74 E300, 1975/77 E250/350.
There are also two different diameters of the stainless steel hubcaps.
Thanks ND.. I've got the bases covered cuz I always have a shopping list, watch list, and tape measure when touring the swap meet. In fact and to my surprise, I located quite a few sets of innies. These were the only 12-inchers (the way I measure 'em) among all the vendors.
24 hours in the electrolysis vat and the hubcaps are coming out nearly rust free after scrubbing with a small wire brush. The process works by line of sight and the back sides were still a tad rough. Build-up on the sacrificial steel also needed to be knocked off. The caps are in for another round...
Oh... ya might be also interested to know that the process also softens paint. Again, these needed another round to be more thorough.
