I'm asking about the Sanderson headers above. I want to see how the mini starter fits

Lets see if this works it's about 1.1/2" to get the mini out. I went to the mini when installing the nv4500 5spd. It was ez then. There is no way in hell to remove the om stock starter with these headers installed. orich

More pics for yallz info:

Engine painted, new clutch, backed by a TKO-500:

Installed the combo last weekend.

Header time!

There is 1/8-inch between the starter and the tube. I'm pretty sure the starter can be replaced without undoing the header. It's close though...:

Aligns with the frame rail and projects about 5 inches from the cylinder head:

Driver side clearance from steering box:

Projects about 4.5 inches from cylinder head:

IMPORTANT NOTE!
I tried to use 12-point ARP header bolts but cylinder #3 is so tight to the header flange that a 12-point box wrench wouldn't fit and the open end (or course) wouldn't grip. So, I used the hex head bolts that came with the headers on the bottom row and the ARP bolts on the top row.

That motor's too Purdy for a generic OEM style starter....

This would look mighty fine next to those Sandersons

Hey Hio. You might investigate "Stage 8" brand locking header bolts. I use them with everything I put headers on. I have NEVER, NOT ONCE, had to replace header gaskets. They are a pain in the pedukie to install but that 1st time is the last. Trust me. They aren't cheap but worth it IMHO.
I can order these in 3/8" by .75" or by 1". PM me if interested.

or these Jeg's etc.

Avoid..... project...... creep.

.. Btw,these Sandersons don't use gaskets. Rather, only silicone and should be totally cured by the time the barge gets out of dry dock.

Sorry buddy for being that little munchkin standing on your shoulder wispering in your ear, but what happens to that silicone when the header bolts loosen? And ya knows they will.........cha-cha-cha.

Yeah I totally realize the possibility.

However, Sanderson's directions explicity required and spec'd the RTV which I just happened to have for the intake and such. We'll see how good they are with this "no gasket" feature.

Stage 8s are first on the list if I start hearing the cha-cha-cha... moreso than the mini-starter.

I never had any issues with loose header bolts since they don't have any gasket to burn out. Just follow their instructions. Have had then on since 06... orich

10-4 Orich.

I can also install safety wire... which is waaaay less than Stage 8s. In fact, I actually enjoy safety wire.. it's rather therapeutic.
