I have it as a PDF file. I can try to PM it to you if you think it will help. My truck has the 7-way connector. I have the Camper Package and the Off-Road Package on my truck.
The PDF file is the same as I put in the post. I have the 7-way connector listed at the top of that document. It, and the plug, looks exactly like the picture. If it isn't on your truck (under the rear bumper on the left side) let me know. I'll try to get some pictures for you.
Thanks for the picture and words of advice Bill! I'm not sure how soon I'll get to look at it, but now I have some sort of a plan anyway. BTW, you were one I couldn't rep..
edit: One thing, what exactly am I looking for if I want to find a factory harness? Maybe a stupid question, but I don't know.
If your truck has the two round plugs like in the pic, the factory 7 pin plug has a short harness (about a foot or so long) coming out of it with the two round plugs on it.
wire that in to the tow package harness you see under the rear bumper and your all updated and don't need the adapters for trailers that use the round or the 4.if you have any older trailers with the older 6 way plugs, don't even mess with adapters for those either.just update them to the newer plugs too.
it's just a few bucks, but makes it all so nice.i went through and did this to my truck and trailers and it was worth every penny and the time.
went right through my dump trailer completely with new wiring for everything once i added the brakes, and updated it's connector.i have use of everything on that one.tail, brake, blinkers, backup, battery charger.
it's nice to just plug in anything like a new truck without those frigging adapters on stuff.
Thanks for the info F250, but I got it. I feel quite stupid again, I had all the wiring there. The first owner of the truck took the 7 way plug and converted it to the 6 way ones I have now. He just plugged the female end in and took 6 wires and ran them to the 2 hookups I have now. One in the box, one in the bumper. I mounted the plug onto the hitch underneath. Now with it connected like shown in the picture, I'm running power to the two 6 way plugs. Once I put a new 7 connector on the big trailer I can unplug the connector underneath and hook up that trailer. I need the other plugs for work trailers, so I can just unhook and lay that out of the way when not needed.
Turned out to be an easy fix, but I still gotta thank you guys for all the information.
Awesome Darin!! Nice to have easy fixes every once in awhile.
That's for sure Greg! That doesn't happen very often, I was quite happy. All I had to do was pull the connector down from where it was tied up, took it off and cleaned the contacts, straightened and painted the bracket, and bolted it on.
Another electrical hurdle leaped over by Darin, YEAH. LOL
I should talk, mine was lighting up my dually fender running lights and lighting the camper lights when the pickup lights were off. I couldn't figure it out, asked my nephew and he switched a couple wires around and everything worked right. Duh!!
