Project: Smogie...RacinNdrummins IDI build
So obviously, I have replaced my set of DPS stg 1 injectors with a set of my own B-codes with a 2500 pop pressure. The DPS units popped in a range from 1650 to 3000psi, but they did have a decent spray pattern... Needless to say, My truck runs a whole lot smoother than it did before. The higher pop pressure has taken my smoke at idle away, and I dont get any smoke under 1/3 throttle, even up hills, So far the stock sticks are flowing enough fuel for 180cc's, and doing just fine... I am very happy, especially for a stock set of high pop rebuilt stock injectors.
I did a mileage test yesterday... I drove about 320 miles round trip, up an over the pass to Mattawa, Wa, 3 dirt bikes, three guys, all our gear, totally packed, 70mph the whole time... And avg'd about 15-16mpg's over the whole trip... Thats going from sea level to 3000, and back down... At first I wasnt too happy with the numbers, but as I have thought about it, its not bad at all... I bet I could have gained a couple of MPG's by staying around 60... But I didnt have that sort of time... I cant wait to get a flat ground mileage test, I think 20mpgs is possible.
So last week, my Holley Blue finally bit the dust, leaking between the motor and pump head, letting air in, so I picked up a Mr Gasket for temporary use until I can mount my bronco tank drop my front tank and run my new lines. Got that on, and I was still getting air in somewhere, and I noticed the typical bowl leak on the filter head, as well as a loose shrader valve, so saturday, I picked NMB2's brain, picked up some filters and heads, and totally got rid of the factory setup... The Water-sep/pre-filter is 21 microns and the post filter is 3 microns...
I also picked up a toolbox from lowes on a black friday sale for $119, one of the 12" short boxes that will still allow me to have a dirtbike in the back and close the tailgate. I am going to modify the box, and add a lower tank to it for my water injection. I will get 20+ gallons out of it when I am done, with should last as much as a tank of fuel when towing. After im done with the fab, I am going to have it powder coated, along with the bumpers, and finish out my monochrome look for the truck.
Finally, My clutch is just about dead... I can only get 14psi max out of my truck now, it just slips at anything about 8-10psi. I have picked out a valair 13" PSD clutch rated at 400hp/900tq, and I think my truck being on the lighter end of things, should be more than sufficient. I am going to modify a spare 6.9 flywheel to run the 13" clutch.
This is the clutch I have decided on-
VALAIR 13" x 1.25" Premium Stock Organic Replacement Clutch HD Spring Hub 94-97 7.3L Ford Powerstroke 400HP
After the clutch, I am going to get a set of T-bars on, and then its off to the dyno... We'll see what the truck does with a good clutch on it...

Only exception Ill make is for my future SWB build... That thing is going to be a street strip IDI "lightning" build, and will have an auto...
