XRF tie rods

How many are running them or have tried them? Do they look / feel beefier than the standard stuff? Better than any premium grade stuff from the local parts stores?

I've been happy with their ball joints so far. Just wanting some input since I'm in the market for some tie rods.

I installed a set on my truck about a month ago.

I can't say I'd replaced any tie rods prior to doing this set on my truck so I can't comment on premium parts store parts vs XRF, but do the parts store premium parts come with a million mile warranty?

I'm happy with my purchase thus far.

I believe Peter Duckfan has a set on his truck.

No, but my alternator from autozoo comes with a lifetime warranty and I've only had to replace that 4 times so far..... for free. Labor on the alternator is easy, and there's been no down time waiting on replacement parts when I had a warranty claim.

Tie rods (inner and outer) mean more labor and also mean down time while waiting on replacement parts. No offense, but I'm more interested in quality than warranty.

Moog had a good warranty on the tie rod ends that I put on my truck. The driver side was popping in 3 months.

I have them on my truck but to be honest between breaking the front axle and now the transmission, I don't have enough miles on them to render an opinion. They seem to be quality parts.

Well, has anyone not named Pete tried these?

Did either of you notice any visual differences between the XRF and stock? I know when I replaced my Moog outer tie rod end with the HD version from NAPA, you could see a difference between the two parts and it was easy to see which one was heavy duty when they were side by side.

And dang Peter. You've had a rough stretch of luck.

If the ones on my truck were stock (i bought the truck with 113k on it and have no previous records on it) when I replaced them no I didn't see a large difference between stock and XRF other than the ones I took off were very worn out.

They may have been slightly larger but nothing life changing from what I remember.

I did the complete front end. XRF Ball joints and tie-rod Kit. They were almost exactly the same. Nice and beefy.. The only problem was with mounting the stabilizer to the drag link. on the OEM drag link, it has little groves for the U-bolts to go around it. On the XRF drag link. you need to stretch the U-bolts over the drag link.
I have over 20K on them now and they still feel great.

The tie rod kit is $299 and $99 for the Ball joint kit.. EDIT LINE.. WOW the ball joint kit went up $30... Now $129
The Tire Club

here is the write-up i did on it

Forgot about that. I had the same issue.

I'm not worried about that. She's got a dual stabilizer mounted in the center so we don't use those grooves anyway.

I had new XRF ball joints and 4 new XRF tie rod ends installed on my truck .

That was about 3000 miles ago , back in April .

I'm not sure I needed new tie rods but figured I would get new ones because I didn't know what was on the truck from the previous owner .

The new XRF's seemed beefier than what was on there but when I just measured the new to the old ones , they are the same diameter .

I like them so far .

Just my $ .02

You too I'm going on the 3rd set of moog in two years and have some play in the pass. side one now. I'm look for something better. I don't mind changing tie rods but the alinements get costly after awhile

So I've been looking around and here's what I've come up with so far.

Tireclub sells the kit for $299.00 on this page The Tire Club

I'm not really sure I need new adjusting sleeves so I decided to just price the parts individually. Don't waste your time. It's more money to not buy the kit. I did notice that they called their parts "problem solver" on the tireclub website. That kind of bothers me since that's exactly what MOOG called their pieces I bought and had such poor luck with. Someone please tell me these are not just private labeled Moog parts.

I also used google to see if I could find any other XRF dealers and came up with MIBearings LLC, Wheel Bearings, Brake Parts, and More

When I entered the part numbers in their website, I noticed it was quite a bit cheaper. And this includes the adjusting sleeves which I probably won't buy.

Rock Auto sells the Raybestos professional grade parts for a total of $315, but if the XRF are just moog problem solvers, I may go that route. Otherwise I'll just save $100 and go with the XRF from MIBearings.

Can anyone come up with anything on google before I place an order?

Chris, I just put the Raybestos Professional grade from Rockauto on last week. They were as beefy as the factory stuff and looked like a quality product. Raybestos claimed to have better ball-socket joint and I decided to give them a try. Only time will tell.
