03 7.3 e350 ambulance

hey guys first timer usually i fuiger tings out myself but im stumped

my fuel pump has no power all fuses good cut of switch good still cant find relay for sum reason and i need to get this ambulance back up. any help would by helpfull at this point dnt knw much about ford trynna change that. all my fleet is ford 28 trucks.

Welcome to FTE!!

The fuel pump relay will be in the junction box. I don't know the fuse box configuration on an 03 E series, but there is a bank of relays in there somewhere... IDM, Fuel Pump, Accessory delay....they are all in the same place.

You say the inertia switch is good..... Power to that switch comes from the relay.

When are you checking for power to the pump? When you key on the pump is only powered for about 20 seconds if you don't attempt a start.

found the relay in the juntion box under hood last row to the left bottom one on the corner for future refs..and i tested the cut of switch with an ohm test the relay was bad but still it wont start i hear the pump humming fuel filter housing started filling up but still nothing just for **** and giggles swaped ckp. idk if the lines still have air or what i knw when when i usto work for TA once those fuel lines get air 18 wheelers wont start are they the same or what??

Glad you found the bad relay. The fuel pump will run for about 20-30 seconds with the key on and engine off. Run it through 3 or 4 cycles to bleed air out of the fuel supply and return lines. Air in the fuel rails can be bled by loosening the plugs at the ends opposite of where the rails are fed. Any other air has to (unfortunately) make its way out through the injectors. There are threads on here that describe in more detail, but I believe it might take some driving to clear all of the air out.

so u do have to bleed fuel line in thses found that out the hard way lol thanks now unit 139 is up and running hopefully saveing lives again. thanks help was great now i have my supervisor off my ***

Yep, even the electric fuel systems have to be bled. Glad you got her up and running.

I would hate to have to work on an ambulance or any van for that matter. You cant even see the motor with it being under the dash. I had to fix the ambulance in my local volunteer fire dept. that I am a member in. The thing was pissing fuel turned out someone pulled the fuel drain valve thinking it was the oil dipstick.
