putting my motor together, first ford fe project, trying to bolt up the intake, it is a mother hummer, I can get a few bolts started, try the other side no luck, using arp bolts, compared to bolts removed same length.
should I try to oblong the holes?
thanks
If you use the cork end seals, sometimes they can hold the intake a lil high to where it is prone to leakage and it *could* be harder to get the bolts in.
Have you mocked all this up before? were the heads or block milled? if so you might have to do some work on the intake to fit it.
thanks for the feed back
the intake was on a 360 prior to this 390. block was decked and heads milled. I think I found the culprit, there is a metal dowl pin on the front rail above the timming cover, front cork gasket had a provision for it, the 360 block was smooth, no dowl. going to remove dowl tomorrow and recheck fit without the gaskets. I ruined the corks with 3m and black rtv, so I will apply a bead of rtv to end rails on final assembly
thanks again for info

Consider it a blessing in disguise, the cork end seals are prone to leakage, and in my experience can be a recipe for vacuum leaks by holding the intake up too high and preventing proper sealing, rtv is the way to go.
Jeff, O'Reilly auto (maybe someone else also?) sells Black/Red/Blue Rtv in a caulk tube. It's like $9 but lasts long if properly stored and it is stupid easy to lay a perfectly even bead over long distances.
I hate those lil squeeze tubes, I always make a mess.
