Please ID this part on the turbo pedestal
when I removed the turbo, I broke the electrical connector for what I believe is the ebpv actuator. What part number is that connector thing and where can I get one? https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...9a4abe15a.jpeg Broke off the electrical connector on this doohickey |
Also in the mechanics gasket set from diesel O-ring, it has ebpv o-rings. I’m assuming those go to the actuator? I see the thick rings for the oil channels but I’m referrribg to the smaller thin rings. |
Ouch! You aren't going to like this. Part # is F81Z-6C673-BA. Here it is on fleabay. EPBV solenoid
And here it is at AutoNation Ford. EPBV solenoid |
A good number of guys delete the EBPV and you may be able to find a second hand one cheap here.
|
Or since you live in Tx now might be a good time to do the delete yourself. If you want to keep the EBPV and can't find a free one then you could get something like this and just ask the seller to send you a close up pic of the connector. Swap it out with yours.
I would send you my old one but did just like you and dropped the turbo on the connector. Didn't worry about though cause I had the delete pedestal sitting on the bench waiting to go in. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1999-5-2003...XdtM:rk:5:pf:0 |
Ouch- that's a stiff price for a little valve! But it sounds like I have a few options:
1) Delete the EBPV but I have no idea if that's a good thing or not? What are the benefits and cons for the EBPV delete? Do I need more parts or just not connect it? 2) Looks like I just broke off the just the plastic part and the pins that actually slide in the connector are still good. I might just push the connector on and wire-tie it in place. 3) Spend 300 bucks... but I don't think this isn't really an option with the other two available. |
In cold climates the EBPV closes to help the engine warm up. If you're in TX you wouldn't even miss it.
|
u could put a mechanical cable on the ebpv and delete the solinoid.

Like Mark said primary purpose is to help engine warm faster on cold mornings. Some use it as an engine brake when towing by modding the truck or getting a tow tune that does it.
I live in the south like you and only have to deal with so many cold mornings. I wanted to remove obstructions from the exhaust of the turbo for better flow as well as eliminate one of the oil leak possibilities in the valley. There are a few cold mornings that I wish I still had it but that passes in about 10 minutes once the engine warms up :D There are write ups on how to remove the valve from the outlet and plug the holes as well as how to gut the pedestal and plug the holes. Another option is to buy a pedestal and turbo outlet that delete them for you. Here are some links for doing your own or buying. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...d-my-ebpv.html https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...pv-delete.html https://www.riffraffdiesel.com/garre...h-flow-outlet/ https://www.riffraffdiesel.com/riffr...estal-99-5-03/ |
I'm in the North and I've had mine unplugged for years. It's much cheaper to buy a remote start and just think.
Don't miss it. Denny |
The pins look ok so you could just put the connector on and secure it with zip ties or maybe a little adhesive. I'd push it on then cover it with silicone, that'll hold it in place and keep water out while still allowing it to be pulled off later if needed.

If you want to delete it you need a Non EBPV pedestal, a manual waste gate controller
