advice on 6.0 swap injectors turbo off
 

I needed some advice guys , my son bought a 6.0 from his uncle and what a ride with this truck . He was bad in maintaining truck , so now to clean his dirty job . ok, so will be replacing injectors and removal went smoothly , and seems according to his uncle he did the egr delete.

1. a lot of oil under the turbo , so when I removed the turbo guess what no screws holding it at all!!! so will that cause for the bad oil leak with the vibrations on the oil turbo tube ??( Already ordered kit that comes with screws and O-rings).

2. there is a little hose right under there and a sensor connector right next to the oil filter housing , should I also replace those ? that really looks nasty there and any other thing I should look at besides possible also doing the CAC tubes ?

Taking a better look . Seems oil seeping from that hole also. Something go into that ?

Green circle is the oil feed for the turbo, it will weep a little oil when the tube is removed because oil is supposed to be pumped out of it.

Turbo oil return leak. New o rings will take care of that.

Scratch that, the prospective was off in the pic and I see the feed line now. I think the hole between the EOP switch and the EGR hose nipple cap is just a blind hole.

You NEED a new EGR hose, that thing is so swollen it looks like it might pop of it's own accord.

I will see if i can degrease it tomorrow and take a better look because it does seem like something does plug into it . Know is there a kit to swap out that little hose that plugs to it too ?

These threads cover EGR hose replacement. All references to an "orange hose" are to the original hose from back in '03, it was later replaced with the updated blue-colored hose, which came stock on later trucks.

1. DRAIN the coolant.
2. Cut the old hose in half.
3. Remove the torx screws and take the cap off the oil filter base.
4. Remove old hose from both sides (link 1 shows close ups of how the hose locks on)
5. Install new o-rings on the cap.
6. Install new blue hose to EGR cooler then cap (follow index markings on hose)
7. Tighten screws to 89 lb-in

Coolant hose for egr cooler - 4C4Z-8592-AA
Inner O-ring for outlet port - 3C3Z-9N693-FA (International: 1846975C1)
Outer O-ring for outlet port - 3C3Z-9N693-EA (International: 1846977C1)

Will the blue hose work with his EGR cooler delete? Or will he have to get the blue hose from the maker of the EGR cooler delete system?

Also take real good look at your wiring harness. It looks like it may need to be replaced. And plug the turbo oil drain back tube before you do any cleaning to keep stuff out of your engine. And you are going to need to get the bolts to secure your turbo when you put it back together. B.

Mine looked like that too at 60000 miles. My turbo was bolted down solid. I kind of thought it was leaking out of the turbo boot when I was looking at it but could have been the oil drain. Leaked straight down onto that wiring harness. Pulled the wrap off the harness in that area and cleaned it up best as I could.


For going back together, a tip I have seen (and used) is to leave the turbo hold down bolts well started but loose and then connect the exhaust clamps. Leaves some play to allow for the very critical alignment of the exhaust clamps. Then tighten down the hold down bolts on the turbo.

Use a ratchet strap to make it meet, see Sr Master techs video for the low down on how to do it

No it won't. Sorry, I was apparently out of sorts last night and forgot how to read. You'll nee a new hose and set of worm clamps, you can call any manufacturer that makes those kind of j-hook EGR deletes and see what they'd ask for a new hose.

Riff Raff and XDP don't seem to sell the hose separately, those are the two vendors I checked.

Also have a good look at the oil pressure sender. I've seen them fail and leak oil more than once. Good luck.

I will definitely use all your advise . I should start on the clean up today and see how it looks . Now im having doubts the egr and oil cooler were installed or even tightened correctly and pulling towards checking and maybe re doing the egr delete . Any suggestions guys . I will definitely go over budget on that but dont want to do it twice. Any recommendations on a good and well priced egr delete and oil cooler set up that wont break the bank
