Hey guys' my woodbed looked great when done it. I used spar finishing but the FL. Sun eat it up. I have removed it and I'm putting in new boards. I don't want to use the same stuff so what should I use? I thought about going back to nature and useing linseed oil. Anyone know of a good product. ?????

I remember Ax talking about tongue oil I think, but Joe is looking it up for you. Its good to see your name pop up. So I wanted to say hello.

The PO put teak in the bed of mine. I don't know how long its been there but it looks good. I just brush on some teak oil every year. If it's good for boats it should hold up outdoors.

You ever get your cabin finished? How's the fishing? I was wondering what happened to you. I used Por Pelucid with spar urethane on top of it for UV protection. However, my truck is a garage queen, so you probably should take other's advice. I put mine on per Mar-K's tests:

I'll go along with PXH. I tried to post a one word reply yesterday and it was 'teak'. They claim the teak decks on the Titanic are still as good as new! King of the outdoor woods, but VERY spendy. Your truck looks worthy of it though.

Here's my 2bits...I would use Teak Oil. I have owned wooden boats for most of my life and I can say that if you properly seal the wood, use Benite sealer, then apply multiple coats of teak oil you will be OK. I have used this system in my house on Fir doors and Alder baseboards and it lasts. (Not to mention teak decks on the boats.) You can get an almost varnish like finish with about 6 coats of oil and you only have to lightly clean the wood and add one coat every year to keep it looking great. Application is easy as you don't have the same problems with runs that you have with varnish. I never liked the Poly varnish substitutes as it lifts from the wood after a time when left outside. I'm about to do the wood on my '51 F-2 and I will be using this system to keep it bright.
