If I remember prior posts correctly, there is no real way to correlate the numbers on the springs with the spring load they are...the only way you can do that is to look at the door sticker (driver side, B Pillar, bottom) and get the code from that sticker to determine what load range the springs are for.
I know I ran into the same problem you are describing when I did my V/B swap...I had to not only find a yard who said they had the springs, but then make sure the yard still had the springs on the truck. I went to two or three that said 'yea, those are V codes' and when I got there, they had zero way of actually backing up the claim - they had a vehicle ID but couldn't produce the stats from the door sticker. I started looking at heavy duty dismantlers and finally found one a few blocks from my house that had 3 or 4 different pickups and all still had the springs (and sticker) still on the truck, so I could visually verify they were correct. |
It's easy to replace the cracked one and you might have to do some leveling afterwards also. I would buy them, worst case scenario is having to level.

I've used only CL springs on my rig, worked well.

Search the forums for the "V code" swap...there is a ton of info there on spring codes...

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...y-turn-vs.html I assume you got new ubolts? How did you source them? $15 per spring? Wow that's awesome. Never seen anything like that on CL in Colorado. I'm hoping to get the ones at the start of my thread for $150 total. The auto salvagers in the area want something stupid like $300 for each pair. Might as well buy new in that case! My main concern with this set of springs is the cracked leaf. I'll need to get a replacement leaf and probably replace the same leaf on the other rear at the same time to try and keep the spring rate/height the same. Just not sure what replacement leafs will cost yet. |
Nah, just use the old ones, but don't tell anyone here else you'll get some grief. See if you can buy a single leaf from a junk yard. Or put an wanted post in our 'for free' thread, everyone else does.:D
Here's the rears when ya get around to it. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...c-springs.html |
Thanks again Sean. Funny I actually posted on your old rears thread way back when.
Let the CL negotiations begin!! |
