What caused your failure? Was the engine tired,or did it just blow? Did they blame it on the tuner? I am at 85 k. These reports are making me nervous.

The Ford mechanic said he couldn't tell exactly without tearing down the engine but it sounded like a piston failure or cam problem. About 200 miles before it finally got really bad, I started hearing a ticking noise, right after an oil change. I thought maybe they didn't fill the oil enough but it was full. I then added Engine Honey thinking it was a lifter. The noise just got worse. The morning I was going to take it to the dealer, I stopped at a Mickydee's and it wouldn't turn over. Got a jump and went to the dealer. Battery was fine, it tried to lock up. The rest is history. At least I was at a Ford dealer, Souix Falls, SD and they did a good job of the engine swap.

Nervous? me too. I have a 2009 v10 Lariat CC. had an Airaid CAI on it looking for more mpg, wasn't working. In fact someone pointed out that the CAI might actually rob power and mpg so I put the stock air filter back on. I was still considering going to a tuner but is that going to be a risk for this type of failure??? I've left the flowmaster exhaust on.

The failures on the 2013s seem to be isolated to certain build dates. Probably bad parts and/or assembly issues. So you can't really use that as an indication that your 2009 will end up with a similar failure.

If you are going to put an aftermarket intake on the truck you want a custom tune with it or don't bother. The intake can throw off thing like the MAF.

I put a "sock" on my Airaid intake just to increase the particle trap.

I have had on my K&N for years now. Saves me a lot of cleaning time picking the bugs and other crap out of the pleats, repels water and keeps some extra dirt off the filter. The Airaid kits are nice, nicer than my K&N.
