Description:

Ford Y-block heads.  These are a little unusual; I asked John Mummert about them some time ago and at that time he said that he had not seen anything like what I described.

The heads have the "ECR" designation, but stamped into the pad, not cast.  Mummert lists ECR heads as being low-compression HD truck or industrial.  However, when I CC'ed the chambers, they measure out to 68-69 cc, which places them into the ECZ-G category, and as can be seen, they have the large G cast into the bottom as did the other ECZ-G heads I've seen or owned.  The ports appear to be similar or identical to G heads by sight, though I have never measured/compared them directly.

The intake valve is a 1.92" which, again, is found on the G heads or other performance Y heads like the 113.  The exhaust is a 1.51".  The one odd thing here is that the stems on the exhausts are larger than usual, basically 7/16".  I don't know why this is so- whether it was factory, or a machine shop did it later.  Mummert speculated that it may have been done for HD or industrial use, an irrigation pump engine perhaps, where exhaust temps can be high.  Seems plausible, although this seems like an odd head to put on an application like that with the big ports/small chambers.  At any rate the guides can easily be replaced with std. ones to convert it back.

The heads themselves are in good condition.  They are bare (no valves, springs, etc.) and need to be rebuilt and resurfaced.  They were cleaned and coated with anti-rust preservative (the brown streaks) which is easily removed with brake cleaner.  The coolant passages are in good shape.  There is some pitting on one of the cylinder deck areas which may or may not come out entirely with milling, I haven't really gone that far with things.

I will throw in a new ARP oil pump drive for a Y that I found on the shelf.  I may have some other small parts (I know I have a set of F O R D rocker covers somewhere) that can come with them whenever I find them.

Asking $200/pair.  They are in Central Illinois near Peoria.  Not too interested in shipping them, but am reluctantly willing if the buyer pays the ride....shipping is very pricey these days.
