3rd owner, all receipts since bought at 77k miles, all highway miles, no rust, a/c blows cold, 4EOD transmission well maintained with fluid exchange every 10-12k miles (have receipts) original 97 model which this forum says was the best year for that trans, new rear gas tank, front suspension parts replaced at 112k miles (all ball joints, drag link, tie rod ends with greasable and have been greased often) front brakes at same time, rear brakes good shape, adjusters work, engine oil always clean, replaced IAC valve with OEM around 100k, no other problems. Driver seat lumbar pump works but doesn't inflate, tailgate bowed from mishap with 5th wheel, scratch on drivers door, paint chip missing on hood, pass. rear scratch repainted before me (see pics for all) good michelin tires, replacement OEM spec windshield (not thin safelite). Second owner bought at 55k miles from doctor and wife in MN who bought new with Jayco RK3030. Freeze plugs replaced at 80k, cooling system has been flushed, cleaned, flushed again, never had a problem. I used it between Atlanta and Florida then recently Southern Californian and Michigan. Always kept clean and waxed with Collinite. Left rear hub cap replaced with generic, only lasted 5k miles. Replacement headlight assemblies and upgraded bulbs. The best thing that I ever did was take the driveshaft assembly to a company in Atlanta when the carrier bearing went out and had the joints and bearing replaced and entire assembly spin balanced. Sooo smooth after than with properly balanced tires. Always aligned, drives straight down the freeway, only need a thumb. Power steering fluid exchanged to Royal Purple, rear axle lube replaced to heavier grade per spec., front brake lines replaced to master cylinder with the new style flexible/hand bendable non corrisive metal plus new rubber flex lines around 140k miles.
I was once an ASE Master Tech and have always kept this truck in top shape. Just came to MI from CA at Xmas, would not hesitate to change oil and head back if needed. Runs and drives excellent.
My family does a lot with collector cars. Although I'm not a truck collector, I took the best care that I could with the intention of one day selling it to someone who would really appreciate it. Right down to not touching the letters on the radio, cruise control or window/lock buttons so the letters appear new, not worn off.
That's one well-kept HD good sir...and you're absolutely right about the drivetrain in our 97s. Mine is a daily driver and drags 20 ft logs on steep grades frequently; 263,000 miles and she's still rocking the original factory engine and trans. Hope someone gives yours a good home!

I've had 3 local offers for $2k so I quit parking it outside. Blue book says about 6500. I'm glad that you got ahold of me, I need to change the price. Several people have told me if it was a diesel it wouldn't last a day. Plus gas prices keep going up! Every once in a while someone leaves a note on it to buy it but never when I actually want to sell it I guess.
$2k is madness lol. I gave $1500 cash for mine but that was a stroke of luck, the seller was in a hurry, and the truck had sat in a field for a few years and needed a ton of work...I probably put at least $2000 into it after I got it.

I'll say $6500 with a strong emphasis on O.B.O.!!
I saw this was an older post but thought I would see if it was for sale. I would like to schedule a day to come take a look. I live in Indiana so it would be a decent drive. You can also contact me at 3173837217
