Description:
OK, here you go PowerStroke fans!
We have here a 1997 F250 HD with the venerable 7.3 liter International Harvester PowerStroke turbocharged engine with a ZF-5 5-speed manual transmission. But wait!! It is also 4WD with manual locking hubs!! The most reliable!!
First things first. Let's be honest: this truck is 23 years old. it has 245,000 or thereabouts miles on it. It most decidedly is NOT in mint condition.
But-It runs great. I never really modified it much other than to add a Donaldson 6637 air filter and cold(er) air intake and a 3" MBRP stainless exhaust without CAT. I did replace factory clutch with a Val-Air ceramic single mass clutch several years ago.
And we've had the usual replacement of maintenance items like alternator, radiator, brakes (pads, rotors, drums as needed). I changed the oil regularly with a Motorcraft filter and Rotella-T 15w-40 oil.
All new glow pugs and wiring harness electrical connection cleanings in 2017.
This is an XLT model with the EXTENDED CAB, so it has a slight upgrade internally.
You get your cloth seats, your carpeted floor, your power door locks, your power windows, your sliding rear window. You get bucket seats (full disclosure-the driver side arm rest is kaput thanks to my kids when they were little) with a center console that a friend told me could hold a case of beer (lol)
Hey! we have a Line-X Xtra bed liner and Bully tie downs and cab steps (as shown in the photo).
This truck has a Class IV receiver hitch in GREAT condition as well as an aftermarket electric brake controller (with instructions included)!
I'll also throw in the Back Rack!
I used this truck to tow a camper and to haul riding mowers when I was running my side gig for that. When we camped with this truck we pulled a camper and had a big ol' canoe on top and still got around 13 mpg.
When I ran this thing empty of load, 17 mpg local and up to 22 mpg highway! I kid you not, this is an economical power plant. Unless you chip it, then forget about it. But stock you have gobs of torque. You can pull ANYTHING (not necessarily fast, but you'll move it comfortably)
It is inspected until the end of February, but you got some good rubber on those alloy wheels, so no tire purchases required for quite some time (unless you want to burn the rears off in a parking lot with all that 7.3l power!)
I've cleaned up the inside, but again: this vehicle is 23 years old averaging a tad more that 10,000 miles per year. THIS IS NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH A GARAGE KEPT ANTIQUITY!
It was driven daily. It is a Ford, so there is cab corner, tailgate, and rear wheel well rust as well as some in the driver front fender. Did I keep every service record? No. But I left the vast majority of work receipts in the glove box with the original sticker ($34k in 1997-you do the math on inflation) as well as the owner's manuals.
But hey! The color is awesome!! You will not see many twins of this bad boy driving around Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. I have only seen about 4 other similar trucks (some were F150s) locally or in other states. This is a pretty rare paint scheme, apparently.
So now we are down to price!
KBB says $7300-$9900 for this truck in "fair" condition. This vehicle is not in "Excellent" Condition. That would be a truck driven Sundays and garage-kept. That ain't this.
So I'm sticking pretty firm at $7000 as the initial starting point of negotiations for the truck as it is equipped and based on what I know to be its capabilities. Please don't waste our time with ridiculously lowballed offers.
I will gladly entertain reasonable offers.
