Has anyone tried a chip for performance and gas mileage. I currently own a F-250 and planning on trading in on a F-150 and looking for a programmer that would help the 5.4 in towing an 8500# RV
I recommend a programmer and custom tunes from one of the experienced and reliable companies listed below. Each of these companies has extensive experience with 5.4L 3V and 4.6l 2/3V modular motors in truck applications.
I know I'll get razzed for even mentioning them, but I got a helluva deal on a Hypertech Max Energy programmer +36HP and 42 ftlbs claimed on the website (at the rear wheels). I haven't dyno'd mine, but I do notice a difference in the butt dyno and the mileage has increased about .2 MPG doing the same type of driving.

Steve,
The Hypertech is decent option for canned tunes, but their customer support sucks. Plenty of POd Hypertech owners out there.
Having seen the difference between canned and custom tunes (on my truck and numerous others), I always recommend custom tunes.
