45K service - Anything else I should do while I'm in there?
While I'm going to do the service per the manual is there anything else like plugs, diff fluid etc I should consider?
Thanks.
Check the upper & lower ball joints rubber dust boots, mine were showing early signs of dryrot at 45K. If you find yours cracked, rub on some RTV to seal them up.
If the inner & outer wheel bearings haven't been pulled, cleaned, relubed & new grease intalled I'd do that.
If you aren't of a mind to do it, at least check the wheel bearing play & adjust as needed.
How about coolant, brake & power steering fluids, have they been changed since new???? I do mine about every 30K
You might pull an easy to get at spark plug or two & check their gap.
I found mine .008 over max spec gap after only 36K & this was after pulling them when new & setting them to the Min side of spec. Yup the new plugs from the factory were all over the place for gap!!!
Use a wire type gap gauge & don't set te gap so tight that you damage the plugs platinum pads. Ease up on the gap setting.
I finally replaced the OEM plugs this past spring with 70K on them & they were worn bad. No way would these OEM Factory plugs have gone the 100K miles they were supposed to be good for!!!!
Drop & air up the spare tire & maybe lube the drop cable & lock cylinder if you have a spare tire lock.
Some thoughts for consideration.
