Dude...They Actually Did It....

I really like Jeff Bridges. He had better show some True Grit and do right by the Duke though.

I don't think I could watch that version.

I mean, John Wayne WAS Rooster Cogburn!

Jeff Bridges wouldn't make a pimple on John Wayne's horse's behind!

John Wayne just rolled over in his grave.

Lets re-do "Dirty Harry" next,............maybe we can get Adam Sandler to play Clint Eastwood's "Harry Callahan, inspector 71".

I was always told that the reason a movie of his life was never made because no one could recreate John Wayne's walk. His own son could not do it. Anyone know if that is true.

I'm a huge John Wayne fan and I'm also a fan of Jeff Bridges. I don't see the need to remake any of the duke's movies.

I also love westerns but new westerns aren't quite as appealing to me as the older films in technicolor from the 60's and 70's.

An urban legend to be sure. Rich Little was one of the most diverse impersonators I have seen. Back in the day he had The Duke nailed. Including the walk.

FYI: Two other signature mannerisms of the Duke was how he would stand. Right hand pushing down on the handle of his holstered pistol while putting his weight on his left leg.

And no one could toss a cigarette like John Wayne.

In regards to a movie of his life:

To write it, it would take a staunch conservative with a keen sense of humor and dedication to his beliefs to understand how John Wayne lived, breathed, and worked. Not to mention having a deep rooted loyalty to friends.

It is difficult to visualize a current actor with the stature and ability to pull it off. The only one that immediately comes to mind is Josh Brolin....In 10 'er 20 years.

I can't help but think that no matter how well done this one is it just won't measure up. How could it?

Uh, what?

Never saw the original, but he somehow knows this one is totally different?

I like Jeff Bridges too. Who know's, he may just pull it off. Re-playing the role of Matty Ross doesn't seem like it would be easy either.

The real trick would to find an impersonator for Audrey Hepburn in future films.

It's a great story, probably will be a big success with the Coen brothers directing.

You have to remember there is a whole generation (or two) out there who have never seen a John Wayne movie, or even know who he is for that matter.

Wrong, Nathan Lane in The Bird Cage recreated the walk during the restaurant scene.
