Great Old Photos

A friend of mine sent me these links in an e-mail today. Some fantastic photos of America and Americans as well as some of the Pearl Harbor attack and WWII.

Captured: America in Color from 1939-1943 – Plog Photo Blog

Captured: The Pacific and Adjacent Theaters in WWII – Plog Photo Blog

From the Archive: American Cities Pre-1950 – Plog Photo Blog

Captured: Color Photography from Russia in the Early 1900’s – Plog Photo Blog

If you have dial-up, they will probably load slowly because there are a lot of pictures in each link. It's worth it though because they are great pics of America in the 30s, 40s, and 50s as well as Russia in the early 1900s.

Someone pass the Big J some Chiclets.

I'm always interested in the Pacific Theater as my maternal family was interred in Manila. (Santo Tomas)

Great photo essay John!
Thanks for sharing.

Glad to share guys and glad you all like them as much as I did. The friend of mine that sent me those links is a veteran and a great guy. I was really blown away by the quality of the pics and reproductions. Some really great history in those pics...a lot better times back then in a way.

No kidding! I got to #66 in the first link and stopped - Look at the size of her arms! That woman definitely looks like someone I would not want to have mad at me...

Excellent find! I've been going through it for hours... Thanks for sharing!

My favorite image is the Corsairs silhouetted in front of all the AA or tracer at night.

Thanks for the reps guys but not necessary....I'm just glad to know that all of you enjoyed them as much as me.

I haven't found anything in the European theatre yet Dave but I'm still looking.

I'd seen these before...someone posted them on a different forum. They are GREAT photos. My father-in-law used to work at the company pictured in #62 of the first link. That was about 20 years AFTER that particular picture was taken, though.
