Wanted info on Ford ambulance

New to the older Ford truck enthusiast, would like to get some information on a ambulance. How do I tell the year model, and if it is a 3/4 or 1 ton chassis?
The only numbers I find is on the patent plate, mounted on the fire wall.
Have not figured out how to post photos yet but have pictures in my album, "Ford ambulance"
Any help would be appreciated.
Paul

Paul, welcome to the site. Try taking a look at the left frame rail, on top of it, between about the steering box to the area over the axle. That's where Ford stamped the serial number. It might not be stamped very deeply though. The number will start with a star and end with a star. Look for C for 1/2 ton or Y for One Ton. There was no 3/4 ton in '47, Ford dropped it after the '42 model year, and it did not return until '48 IIRC. Hope some of this helps you out with your ambulance.

Thanks for the information. If you looked at the pictures I posted in my album notice that it has 6 wheel bolts. Is there a late model wheel that will fit it? I want to change the split rims to a better wheel.

Those pics only show one wheel without a hub cap, the one visible wheel only has five lug nuts not six.

My mistake, I guess there are 5 on 5 1/2" but not sure.
After searching the internet looks as if early Land Rover (5 x 6-1/2") rims will fit. Anyone have experience with them?
