Its a 2001 Ex limited 4x4 with a diesel. Auto start installed when new.9 beautiful years later the auto start quits working, no problem just have it taken off. Now the theft light blinks rapidly when you turn the key and after it starts. Then after running it blinks 6 times..then a 2 second pause then blinks 1 time. Code 61 I am thinking. Local For dealer says there is no such code???? Trucks runs perfect. Any Ideas??? While the truck was down I had a injector module replaced, and a theft module needed to be replaced because the auto start was installed incorrectly 9 years ago. I have tried all of my keys but still does the same thing. Thoughts????
My 'Theft' light has blinked for years. I think it started after I installed the chip. But only for the past several months have I noticed the same pattern you mention (6 rapid blinks, a pause, a single blink, another pause, then the cycle repeats itself). This happens for several minutes, then the blinking stops. One service tech told me that the blinking indicated that I needed to get new keys. But that was several years ago. I did not follow his suggestion. However, this past weekend my engine shut down, electronically as I was coming to a stop sign. That's the first time that has happened. She started right up without any issues or subsequent problems. But now I'm beginning to wonder just what that particular blinking cycle really means. Any input or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
I recently bought an '02 V-10 Limited and same problem. The guy had an Ungo after market alarm with remote start and the rig wouldn't start. He had it towed to the dealer and they ended up re-keying it. He said something like the factory the anti theft wouldn't recognize the original key any longer, so that's why they re-keyed it. Cost him around $370 to correct it. Whatever they did is working, I've had it about 3 weeks now, no problems, but I haven't used the remote start I'm afraid of it doing that again.
