ok..i did a separate post a week ago about an engine misfire(#7 cyclinder)after driving through a strorm. First thing i did was removed COP and regreased it real good. Truck ran fine afterwards. The next day after sitting for around 24hrs i drove it and it was misfiring again. Well, today i pulled the same cop and noticed it was damp & dirty and it had antifreeze smell....GREAT...i know this is bad, but any thoughts on what it is and my next step?
thanks guys...
Sounds like you have a cracked head! The only way to fix this is to replace the head. Get you the hanyes repair manual from autozone, like $20. It has good info and step by step instructions on how to replace the head, which is gonna be alot of work by the way. Get someone elses opinion on this tho b4 you jump on it, just incase! Good luck.
#7 is an odd place for the antifreeze. If its up around #1 or 2, you con have a manifold gasket leak. Back by #4 can be the heater hose dripping. Drivers side rear by #7 or 8 is not a common spot. I would blow it out and check again. Mare sure no external drip or something like that is occuring.. are you using antifreeze? level dropping ? If so, it sounds kind of small. I would think a head gasket/ block sealer would work. I have had good luck with the newere copper stuff you add right to the antifreeze. Try this--next post--
well, my coolant in the resevoir was low, around the bottom were the pipe started down...but i cant remember the last time i checked it. I put in about .25 of a gallon to bring it to cold fill..i used the 50/50 mixture
mark the tank and see if it goes down 1/4 inch a day or so. If your an inch low in a week, i would do the bars leak. Look external at hoses and make sure you dont have a drip..
