I want to ditch the stock suspension airbags in my 97 F250LD. Are the leaf springs on my LD unique to these trucks or can I bolt up any leaf springs from a F250SD?
I have gone through 2 pairs of the factory air bags (I have owned it since 2001). Are the aftermarket bags better? I tow a 5th wheel and it is under the stated towing and load weight but the factory air bags cant handle it once they get a couple years old.
I would love to just go grab a SD with a 7.3 but it's not in the cards anytime soon.
A local company is custom making me 5 leaf springs to get rid of the bags. The standard springs they sell to replace the bags on the F250LD are 4 leaf but I asked for an extra overload spring. Total cost of $390 out the door and I never have to worry about the bags again. This is the one place I called that knew exactly what this unique truck needed to get rid of the bags.
