HELP! ***Problem with switching tanks on 78' F-250***
I'm new here as I just recently bought my first dentside, a 1978 Ford F-250 Custom 351m. I'm already in love with the truck, well aside the mileage (v8), but I'm having some problems with the fuel tanks.
I have two of em' and only the aux tank is working for me. When I switch them the gauge reads that they have been switched, but if I let her run on the main tank I notice it seems not a lot of fuel is reaching the fuel filter in the engine compartment and that it seems to have a lot of air in with it.... and a drive around the block quickly confirms that she dies real quick if she’s not on the aux tank.
I'm guessing it might be the solenoid/switch thing that I have found in the rear tank (aux) but I'm not sure if that is the problem or not.
In addition I have a small leak alongside the main tank in the fuel line where for some reason it appears to go from the stock line to a rubberized line and then back to the stock line, and this is where it is leaking. Any help? I'm slowly learning my way through all of this but I'm stumped on this one....
I would get up underneath the truck and check all of them. If the pump is sucking air it's not pumping fuel.
