Found Truck.. Newbie needs help.

Can anyone help me? I want information on this old ford truck. I know nothing about it and could really use some information. Any and all help would be appreciated. Everyone says it is hopeless and I should scrap it and send it to the crusher. Is it beyond hope?!

Let me know if the link doesn't work. Thanks!

Looks like a '45-47 1.5 ton. (Ford script on hood is stamped). Probably not a war truck as windshield is fixed. Lots of work ahead (just to get it out!) P.S. Nice bumper guard!

My cab was similarly rotted, but that's why they make welders and folks make repro cab and floor pieces. Welcome to the site! There is lots of help and good vibes here!

COMPLIT1107, Thanks for the info and welcome. Is there a book or something I should get my hands on for the 1945-47 year truck? Online resources?
I am going to need something to help me learn as much as possible. I don't even know where to begin once I cut the rest of those trees out. I am hoping it will be a realistic although very long term project. Thanks again!

Hello , your truck looks similar to mine when I got it, (farm auction 1996)my roof was pushed in where the farmer had stood on it to look in the grain bin.Yes there's alot of work, it may seem daunting looking at the overall picture, but one thing at a time, keep chipping at it. I bought my cab patch panels from Northern Classic Trucks, and I'm expecting a few bits & pieces from Sacramento Vintage Ford any day, the internet has come in very handy. Good luck, Steve.

Definitely 45-47 with that grille. My advice would be to collect catalogs from Mac's, Dennis Carpenter, Sacrament Vintage Ford, C&G obsolete Ford products and then start striping that beast down and see what is left. These fellas on here got it right when they say to chip at it a piece at a time as it can get overwhelming. Once you take it apart and see what is salvageable, start coming up with a plan on how you want to go about this. Do you want a hot rod with an late model IFS frontend or do you want to restore it to original? Then start working one area at a time. By that I mean, drivetrain, suspension, interior etc. My advice would be to get a solid frame and get the running gear set up first. That is the foundation for the truck. Find out if the frame is salvageable and if not figure out what will work as a replacement. There is a wealth of knowledge on this board and several others. AND they are willing to help. Good luck and keep your head up and keep moving forward. additionally if you look at the thread that says: READ THIS FIRST, it has a bunch of great links to help you out. Use them!

Thanks for the help. I'll work on it over the summer and post more pics. I am sure I will have tons of questions. Thanks for the book suggestions. I am excited to be able get it inside and start ripping it apart. I am pretty sure I will have a ton of work. How exciting! Thanks again. Any other info or suggestions would be welcome. ~Shanna
