Downpipe

Are you guys doing header wrap or anything on your aftermarket down pipes I noticed the stock down pipe is a lot thinner and has a lot of heat shielding on it so I wondered with it being larger and no heat shielding whether heat is in issue.

Lol I was just looking into heat wrapping. Most people dont wrap it but I want to. I hope to get the money together to wrap mine. I think it would be a good idea cause it will in general reduce underhood heat. Also less likely to get burned.

I bought like a 25' roll of 2" I think it was off of flea bay. Cost me like 25 bucks and came with some metal zip ties. Wasn't the best but it worked. Think it was for a little rice grinder. Had to double up the zip ties to make them long enough. I used it on my hot side ic pipe cause it's so close to the powersteering pump and used the rest on the downpipe only where it's closest to the tranny. That's all I had left.

Good info. I live in the Midwest so I wonder about trapping moisture under the wrap.

Although it gets so hot that I can't imagine any water staying to long.

Are you guys wrapping your aluminized downpipes?

For those who have wrapped them, how far down are you going and whereare you starting?

Like i said, the main place I wanted it was where it was closest to the tranny. I would have done more if I had more but I figured that was the most important place imo. It was kind of an afterthought and wasn't a lot of fun to put on with the pipe on the truck though.

There is also ceramic coated down pipes. Jose swears by his, claims that it has reduced heat significantly if I'm not mistaken.

Tymar sells them with the ceramic coating. Pretty sure RiffRaff does too...
