New guy with 98 Navigator question

Hey guys I just bought a 98 Navigator and was wondering if somebody could tell me what the piece on the headliner behind the sunroof is supposed to be. Right now there is just a generic piece of plastic that somebody put up to cover what I think is a hole. I dont think it is rear air because that is on my console. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

it could have been a rear dvd player. my 2000 navi has nothing there.
