I'm looking for a nice set of right and left 14" rear drum bake asy's that fit 122" wheel base early Ford 1 ton trucks 39-47. I may even consider buying complete rear axle. Please email me at jsoneil@q.com if you can hook me up. Thanks Jason
If nobody contacts you about drums, you might check with Chuck Mantiglia at Chuck's Trucks, or with Job Lot Automotive. Both sources tend to have hard to find parts. Here's each of their web sites.
I am working on a 38 1 ton pickup as well 122" let me know if I can help with your project. I have some parts and a little knowledge, big truck resortation gets a little lonely at times.
I have a 1946 Ford 1 ton pickup that I pulled the rear end out but as rare as these are I don't know if I want to get rid of it? It is complete with brakes and I have a new set of 4 vintage Firestone pizza cutters original size on the original rims and I have the spare rim and tire with 5 original hub caps! I need money to work on my project so I am having a hard time deciding to sell or keep but if the price is right I would sell! I also have the front drum brakes and hubs.
Thanks for the offer but I already have a complete rear axle with mechanical brakes and front hubs for my 38. Yours is an open driveline set up and juice brakes. These free floating rear ends are popular with the racers though. They made them in two sizes for 1 ton and 3/4 ton. (6 cyl)
Oh well I tried mine has the flathead V8 original! now it has a 351W with a C4 trans I want my truck to look original on the outside but have a lot more hp and better brakes and handling!
You might check in over at the 48-60 page and lookup member "blurooster". He posted that he's looking for two old Timken rears to use with a quick change center. Here's the thread. Go down to post #36. Stu

See this post is several years old but wondering if you still have the wheels and hub caps and brake parts? Inherited my grandfather's '46 1 ton truck with 17" split rim wheels. Thank you
