Play/slop in steering??

Play/slop in steering??
Just bought a 2003 Excursion and I noticed the steering isn't nearly as tight as the 2003 my buddy has. His is tight and does not seem to wander or have any free play but mine does have sight free play in the steering wheel and wanders a bit.
Any thoughts/suggestions?

Take it to a shop and have them adjust the steering box. Just had it done on my 02 Ex and the difference is night and day. They charged about 50 bucks, it took about 15 minutes. It's a very easy job with the proper tools.
