Take it off

I have a 1999 F350 92,000 miles 7.3 diesel . I just cut to cat out of stock exhaust system put in a straight pipe left factory muffler and tail pipe. I Now get 17 to 19 MPG hwy. 15 around town. !2 MPG pulling my 30' 5th wheel camper. Real happy with 18 to 20 when not towing anything.

No muffler shop will install a new exhaust system without the cats. Unless you can find one to work for cash under the table.

If there is an O2 sensor after the cat you may throw a check engine light.

Hahahahaha, funniest thing ive heard all day..... Most "shops" arent exactly the most ethical of businesses, and exhaust shops tend to be the rule not the exception to this.... If you cant find an exhaust shop that will do it you arent trying.

Question cats

Lets just put it this way.

Completely removing them is STUPID, and it serves no purpose.
Todays computer controlled vehicles run just fine with them.
Most are better off with them, run worse with no back pressure.
Besides, you will never be able to get it inspected without it.
When you get pulled over and DOT sees that you dont have it...
Each state has its own laws pertaining to emisions tampering.
Are you prepared for the hefty fine for emissions tampering?
Are you also prepared to pay for legal fees to defend yourself
against the gov. for emissions tampering?
These type cases drag on for years.
Are you starting to understand where this is leading?

You can do so much with a vehicle today without even messing
with the emissions systems on them.
Dont be stupid, dont be lazy...research the web for other ideas.

I live in the south and emissions control is almost non existent everywhere I've been down here. You should hear some of the gas burners with straight exhaust. It's annoying. I'm just saying that I got the cat cut off of mine and a bigger tip for 40 bucks, it has a nice sound, and I've never had any trouble with the law. Nobody down here does. And as sweets said, there is no shortage of shops willing to do it.

mine has no cats and I wish I left them alone it sounds horrible and now I am thinking of replacing them it had a much refined sound with them on, now it sounds like a $50 truck.
