99k Miles on front brakes...Need replacement advise
I'm about to do some front brake work on my 05 and wanted to see what everyone else has done on their brakes. My rotors look as good as the day I bought the truck new but I'm sure they will need to be turned to freshen them up (if it's thick enough). I will need to replace the factory pads and wanted to see if semi-metallic pads were the way to go or should I go with ceramics.
Thanks in advance!
Mike
PS - I searched the site but nothing really stands out as far as recommendations so please don't slam me for "not searching"!
[SIZE=4][FONT=Georgia]Just go to the dealership or wherever, and ask for the best ones they have. I run repo trucks and have noticed that the cheap ones just wear out a bit faster. There's usually 3 grades.
Unless you feel a wobble in the brakes, there's no need to turn the rotors either. I've got over 250k on a couple trucks and have only had to do anything to the brakes of one truck ever. Keep the pads changed, and the rotors shouldn't wear too fast depending on your driving. Again I run repo trucks, so we're not easy on ours.
