fixing my trucks bumper

I thought this would be a fun little show and tell for yall with the steel bumpers on how you can fix them with out spending alot of money... if its in the wrong spot admins/mods feel free to move it to the right section...

yes i know this isnt a FORD im going to be showing.. but as some of ya know i dont have a ford truck yet.. hope to get one - one day.. just dont have the $$ for it atm...

year or so ago i got tired of looking at the holes in my trucks bumper so i decided to do something about it.. I really didnt feel like shelling out the $$$ to buy a new one so since it was metal i figured "heck ill just fix it myself"..

being that it was a painted bumper the first thing i had to do was sand off the paint around the holes... (more than just whats shown here.. but youd never see if i had taken a pic of the whole bumper.. but will give you an idea of how it looked)

then came the fun part of fixing them with my welder...

driver

passenger

after id finished that couldnt stand to leave it unpainted like that and figured... well ive already sanded some parts might as well do the rest of it lol..

didnt get any of it sanded but here it is primered...

and since white bumpers dont look so good on black trucks it got painted black too..

can tell here how much the elements have been taking their toll on it from the underside...

and heres how it looked after it went back on...

well 3 weeks later after staring at the back one with its fresh paint and the front one with its 20 sum year old faded paint i decided to make the front look good too.. so off it came...

heres how it looked sanded... (shame i couldnt leave it like that.. it looked nice and shiny)

and of course then came the primer...

and finally the paint...

then it was back on the truck for a happy looking bumper...
